THE PLAYOFFS SEASON 10

AMERICAN LEAGUE

#1

Helena
Helena Barking Moonbats (AL)
sordie
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

The Moonbats finished with thier best record ever at 113-49. That was good enough for the #1 seed in the A L. Sordie's guys lost in last years World Series and are determined to win thier second Series in Wrigleyville. They Scored a league best 1064 runs and allowed 728 ,which is good for second best in the A L. The Moonbats are built on Hitting . They are first in the league in Hits,Doubles,RBI's ,Batting Average and OBP.You will need to jump on this team early because they are first in Saves (61).
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Billy Brown .329 BA with 50 doubles, Rich Rando .309 BA , Willie Buckley 37 homers with 109 RBI's , Odalis Oropesa 21-10 , Gabe Kent 9-5 with 15 SVS

#2

Portland
Portland Pandemonium (AL)
pbsilver11
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

The Pandemonium are Estatic to be in the Playoffs. Pbsilvers crew also has a first round bye which put smiles on the Portland Fans. The Pandemonium finished with a record of  99-63 winning 7 of thier last 10. They don't score alot of runs so they rely on thier Pitching and defense to win games. So Portland will want to keep the score low and win them 1 run games. They do give up more than thier share of homers(231), Which is suprising playing in PG&E Park.
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Douglas Parrish 51 Homers , Norberto Ramirez 50 Homers , Don Nelson 22-5 , Pablo Mairena 39 saves

#3

Hartford
Hartford Crushers (AL)
ARomano
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

The Crushers are still King of the A L East winning thier 4th cosecutive Div Title(97-65). ARomanos Boys like to score alot of Runs(991). They are 27-15 in 1 run games and 10-2 in Extra innings Probably due to that Killer Offense. So you better watch out for the Longball . The Crushers live up to thier name with a league leading 312 Homers and a slugging Pecentage of .503. Thier Pitching is thier weakness and if you want to beat them better bring the Big Bats.
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Charlie Holt 14-6 , Stuart Mench .345 BA,51 Homers,137RBI's,30 SB , Gary Farrell .324 BA , Jay Glanville 48 Homers and 123 RBI's

#4

Finally the Memphis Blues(92-70) are Champs of the A L South. It took 6 seasons for tchagnon to turn this team from Bums to Winners. Like the Crushers these fellas rely on thier Bats. Like teenage boys they like to score ,and score often(952 Runs). But unlike The Crushers they play small ball . They are first in the league with 44 triples and they are 3rd with 250 stolen bases. But that is also a weakness. They were also first in Caught Stealing, 123 times.
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Clarence Spoljaric 13 triples, 101 RBI's, 39 SB , Ossie Hyers 42 Homers,133 RBI's,25 SB , Albert Mendoza 34 Homers,102 RBI's,47 SB , Pedro Mercedes 15-8 , Seth Rando 15-8

#5

The Jackson Justice finally lost thier strangle hold on the A L South .Atprasad's team previously had won this division every year since the world stated. But they do keep thier Consecutive playoff appearences streak alive.By capturing the First Wild Card Spot. The Justice are not a High scoring team so they will lean on thier Pitching and defense. The justice come into the Playoffs losing 7 of thier last 10 . But perhaps atprasad was resting the starters.
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Cal Hardy 43 Stolen Bases , Jose Sanchez 47 Homers, 111 RBI's , B.C. Olivares 47 Saves , Ruben Soriano15-11

#6

St. Louis
St. Louis SilverHawks (AL)

View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Shynet's St Louis Silverhawks grabbed thier second straight Wild card berth. They didn't punch thier ticket until the last day of the regular season. The Silverhawks were in a Horse race with the Aztecs and barley finished ahead of them. They have good hitting and Pitching but have a hard time winng the close games ,losing 27 this season. They also rely on the longball(290) and are very conservative on the basepads. They did'nt steal any bases this year and only attempted it 3 times. I don't think I've ever seen that before.
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Birdie Whitehill .313 BA,35 Homers , Louie Mendoza .301 BA,48 Homers,114 RBI's , Bump Peters 13-7

NATIONAL LEAGUE

#1

San Francisco
San Francisco Kickapoos (NL)

View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Well here we go again. Another season in which the Kickapoos boast the best record in Wrigleyville(119-43).They won the World Series in the first two seasons of the Run. But have faltered in the playoffs the last three. Mark Is hoping that this will be the year he wins his third Championship.
The Kickapoos got here by outscoring everyone in the N L(923) and allowing the fewest in the entire league(519). The only hope you have of beating this team is by keeping the score close. They are 17-14 in 1 run games and 5-5 in extra Innings. The Kickapoos are built on pitching with a Team ERA of 3.06 and a WHIP of 1.21. Both are the best in the league. They also will not beat themselves .They commited only 62 Errors all season Long,EGADS!!thats the best since they tweaked the Sim in Mid-season 3. Oh and one last note: They steal a ton of bases so better have a good defensive Catcher if you want to have a chance.
Players to Watch: Ignacio Sosa .311 BA ,52 doubles, 100 RBI's,56 SB , Arthur Griffiths 45 Homers with 133RBI's, Al Harding .324 with 48 SB, Placido Telemaco 21-8, Hector Padilla 19-5 , Don Dixon 20-5

#2

Tampa Bay
Tampa Bay Stars (NL)
jmas410
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

The Stars get a first round bye with the second seed in the playoffs. After last seasons World Series Win the Tampa squad has to be the favorite to win it again. Jmas has built this team on Pitching and Defense. they are second in team ERA and WHIP. But thier weakness is the lack of winning the close ones. They are 17-23 in 1 run games and 8-7 in extra innings.
PLAYERS TO WATCH:  Wayne Zerbe 18-5 , Edgar Ordonez 21-14 , 11-4 with 15 SVS , J.T. Nichols .300 BA,57 Homers, 105 RBI's , Santiago Torres .303 BA

#3

The Moose are back in the Playoffs after a 1 year hiatus. Rugbys bunch sports one of the best offense in the N L(855 Runs). The Moose aren't flashy but they are a solid bunch. And they love to get you in extra innings, they won 14 out of 19 after 9 innings. They will commit more errors than they like(107) but not so much they can't over come them. Everybody loves MOOSE!
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Carlos Maduro .308 BA,40 Homers,120 RBI's , Polin Pineiro .304 BA,42 Homers,110 RBI's , Tsuyoshi Hujimoto .301 BA,31 Homers, 108 RBI's , Kirk Davidson 15-8

Well what do you know? Zee is in the playoffs. After 4 Seasons he turned this Lump of Coal into a Diamond. It helped that they play in the weakest division because thier record of 82-80 wouldn't win them a Wild Card Berth. O K so they are really a Cubic Zircinium. But they're in and that is what counts. They have a decent Offense and a Good pitching staff but they need to shore up thier Bullpen. They were only 16-23 in 1 run games so in order for them to win they need a big lead.
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Wilson Standridge .306 BA, 51 SB , Vic Velazquez 55 Homers, 150 RBI's, 91 BB , Al Pineda 19-6

#5

Tucson Ectoplasm (NL)

View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Poor Tuscon , Because they play in the Division of Death . They settle for another Wild Card Berth. But they are a wild card in name only. Snowedins bunch has one of the best Pitching teams in the league and with thier very good hitting they will be tough to beat in the playoffs. The pitching staff is third in the league in ERA(3.90) and WHIP (1.29). Defensivaly they are solid team also . So this team may go deep in the playoffs and I would'nt want to draw them in the first round.
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Kordell Gregg 43 Saves, Rodrigo Merced 17-8 , Miguel Ayala 16-10 , Vince Tipton .301 BA, 30 Homers, 118 RBI's, Tyrone Beck 41 Homers , 117 RBI's

#6

San Juan
San Juan Santurce Crabbers (NL)

View Hardball Dynasty Profile

After winning the Division last season the Santurce Crabbers came on strong to capture the last playoff berth. Ralphs guys are still as good as last years team but I'm not sure they are quite ready to go deep in the playoffs. They do ahve a good pitching staff so anything can happen. The starters threw 11 complete games with 3 shutouts, so they are no slouchs. But the guys in the field tend to Boot the ball too many times (105 Errors).
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Che Cho 19-9 10 Complete games,3 shutouts, Gail Phillips 31 saves , Pablo Samuel .309, 50 Homers, 124 RBI's , Glen Hughes .293, 35 Homers, 100 RBI's

The WEEK IN WRIGLEYVILLE S-10 #8

This is the last week of the regular season. Congrats to all that made the Playoffs. And the ones left without chairs when the music stops will be dreaming of next season. So with that in mind there were no Trades made as several teams vied for the last few good IFA's .Then the ones that ended up sitting on the floor with Prospect money, stocked up on minor league players. There was a Major injury to a playoff Contender and that should make the playoffs interesting. See ya next season on the WIW.

TRADES

NONE THIS WEEK

M L INJURIES
Wayne Shea
This Prairie Dog will miss three months due to a Neck injury. He will be entering his last year of Arbitration and this may make it hard for him to get a long term contract.

R.A. Ward
Sometime Injuries in this game make no sense. This starting Kickapoo CF'er will miss Five months with a torn Hammy. He is one of the superstars in this league and with a 99 health rating. It was a suprise to see him have such a serious injury. But the Kickapoos are a deep Club and can win without him.
Albert Parker
This Howler will be activated soon. He had a stiff groin from too much VIAGRA!!!
Jamie Delahanty
This Supersonic Catcher is ready to come off the D L. He suffered from a strained Oblique.
Dude Cosby
DUDE!!!!  This knarly Aztec will be out 2 months with a Torn Groin. I've heard of tearing one off but this must Frickin Hurt. I hope they can sew it back on or he will have to change his name to Chick Crosby.

Well after being outbid on Relief Prospects , I settled for this Corner Infielder. He has good Power and Splits but is weak on Contact and Eye. He also is physically challenged on glove work for a 3rd baseman. Might have to put him in LF. He cost me 4.2 million. had to spend that leftover Prospect money.
