The Week In WRIGLEYVILLE S-17 #5

TRADES
The VANCOUVER TOTEMS traded Harry Padilla to the ARIZONA COBRAS for Steven Daniels and Antone Teagarden
I had way to many 1B/DH's on my roster. Swish kindly traded a couple of nice prospects in return.

The LOUISVILLE HOWLERS traded Courtney Darling and Nash Kaufman to the MEMPHIS BLUES for Hughie Leon
Louisville gets a veteran outfielder . Memphis gets a couple of prospects.

The AUSTIN CITY LIMITS traded Clint Conway and Jake Alston to the CHICAGO BLEACHER BUMS for Tony LeCroy , Daric Washington and Ryan Olshan
Austin is getting younger and Chicago gets some Starting pitching and some hitting.

M L INJURIES
Benny O'Leary
This Moose setup guy had a stiff groin. Will be back in 2 weeks after a visit to Mamasitas house of Pinoche.

Jae Yamaguchi
This former Cy-young winner will miss 2months with the elbow tendinitis. Poor Stars can't get a break! That is only a 2 week injury.

Buck Jodie
This Burlington Sudo-Rookie will be back in 2 weeks. Just a bulging disk??? Must have great doctors.

Louie Mendoza
Strained shoulder for this Moonbat. Even though he is ready to come off the DL.He May be on the DL until roster expansions.

Freddy Weiss
Ol Freddy was a over-achiever. But this injury may have doomed his career. No more Posse for Freddy.

Fred Tankersley
I'm sure a few owners could say a few things funny about a guy named Tankersley playing for the Rios.Kumbia has been in this league since the start and he has a plan. And I also think Fred was not ready for the bigs and it killed him. Thats all I have to say...........

Brent Paramore
The Wind will be without their rookie SP for 2 weeks. The youngster has a few health issues.

THE DRAFT REVIEW SEASON 17 PICKS 17-33

#17

Eduardo Navarro
Tampa Bay
Stars
Age: 18B/T: S/R
Born: Corona, CA
Position(s): SS/IF/OF/DH
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:2,500,000

Eduardo "The Alamo" Navarro projects to be a good 3rd baseman and will hit a high average. But his atrocious health rating makes him likley to die a quick death. The Stars need to wrap him in Bubble Wrap 24 hours a day. My scouts never saw this guy.

#18

Esteban Nieves
San Diego
Salmonbellies
Age: 22B/T: R/R
Born: Carbondale, CO
Position(s): C/DH
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:2,410,000

The Salmonbellies picked up a very nice prospect. This future HRD contestant may be a DH at heart but he can Catch in a pinch. His age could keep him from reaching his full potential. But I wouldn't mind having him on my squad. He was ranked #14 on the Totems Draft Board.

#19

Nate Brock
Atlanta
Peachfuzz
Age: 18B/T: R/R
Born: Levelland, TX
Position(s): P (ClA)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:2,320,000

The Peachfuzz likes Nate "Like a" Brock's Splits and Pitches. But his Control is close to the danger zone. With great Health and Make-up he should reach projections. I had him ranked #8 on my board.

#20

Daniel Jefferies
Vancouver
Totems
Age: 20B/T: R/R
Born: Whitewright, TX
Position(s): P (ClA)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:2,220,000

With pickin so late in the draft, I knew most of the best Starting Pitchers and Short Stops would be gone. So its usually prudent to go for the best of whats left.Like Relief Pitching or Big Hitters. I was happy that my #4 ranked player, Daniel "Your My Brother" Jeffries was still on the board. With 2 pitches projected at 93,88 and control of 92 he could be a reliable SetupA or Closer. His health and makeup give him a good chance of making those numbers.A 65 LH split seems to be his only weakness.Welcome My Brother!!

#21

William Resop
Boston
Knights
Age: 22B/T: R/R
Born: Devils Lake, ND
Position(s): SS
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:2,130,000

Like I said above most of the good SS are gone by now. And William Resop is a prime example. While his hittng projections are good . His defensive numbers are low for a Short stop. He will be a solid RF'er or average 3rd baseman. Its still a good pick at 21. I had him ranked at #17

#22

Kevin Owens
Hartford
Crushers
Age: 18B/T: R/R
Born: Philadelphia, PA
Position(s): P (SP3)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:1,760,000

Kevin "Gary" Owens will make a solid #4 or #5 starting pitcher. With 3 good Pitches, great Control and Splits. This prospect is a steal at 22.Looks like ARomano is up to his old tricks by getting value in the draft. I had him "not scouted well enough".

#23

Domingo Delgado
Boston
Knights
Age: 22B/T: R/R
Born: Windsor, NC
Position(s): 2B
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:1,940,000

Not only does this prospect project to be  GG 2nd baseman . He could also be a decent CF'er. Domingo "Double D" Delgado has blazing speed and will hit RH pitching for a good batting average. But should sit on the bench against lefties. Should make the bigs in 1-2 years.Never saw this cat.

#24

Robb Wyatt
Syracuse
Moose
Age: 21B/T: L/L
Born: Crestview, FL
Position(s): P (SP1)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:2,868,000

Rugby picked up a pitching prospect with good Stamina Control and Splits. With 2 average ptches it will be hit or miss with this guy. No pun intended. May take him 2-3 years to reach projections.I had him ranked #13 on my board.

#25

Paul Shibata
Tampa Bay
Stars
Age: 18B/T: R/R
Born: Montevallo, AL
Position(s): LF/1B/DH
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:1,750,000

Paul "Sluggo" Shibata will make Mr Bill scream Noooooooo!! This plate monster will not be a good defensive LF 'er but can hold his own at 1st base. With good health and Make-up he should reach his projections. He was Unknown to my scouting.

#26

Kevin Loretta
Memphis
Blues
Age: 18B/T: L/L
Born: Eatonville, FL
Position(s): LF
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:3,040,000

Kevin Loretta held up TC for an extra 2 million. This kid has good Power,Contact,Speed and Righty splits but he's blind as a bat. He played RF in school but will be a rangy LF/1st baseman in the bigs. Some good some bad, but a good pick at #26.Unknown on my draft board.

#27

#28

B.C. Alomar
Helena
Barking Moonbats
Age: 18B/T: L/L
Born: Cameron, MO
Position(s): P (P)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:1,324,000

I'm sure the Moonbats were suprised to see this nice Closer/Setup guy on the board at 28. They snatched up B.C. Alomar like a Moonbat would. This guy is a great pick late in the draft and Sordie never gets cheated.I had him ranked #12 on my draft board.

#29

Nicholas Lombardi
San Diego
Salmonbellies
Age: 18B/T: L/L
Born: Oostburg, WI
Position(s): RF/1B/OF/DH
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:1,380,000

This is mdymond's second pick and this guy has the best range so far. But The Salmonbellies are cursed and this young man is already on the DL. When he gets to the bigs he will be one of the best defensive RF'er in the league and could even play a little CF. At the plate he may hit around 270-290. Hope he stays healthy. He was #19 on my board.

#30

Bing Cepeda
Madison
Muskellunges
Age: 18B/T: R/R
Born: Harvest, AL
Position(s): 1B
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:1,290,000

Daddio is smart for going with the best available hitter late in the draft.Bing "Bang Bong" Cepeda is a pure DH.Great Power and Contact with a 97 Lefty hitting split. Couple that with a decent Righty Split with good Eye . Who cares about playing in the field with his hitting ability. But Madison plays in the NL so look for him to be traded to a AL club.My scouts missed this guy.

#31

NOT SIGNED

#32

Michael Marshall
San Juan
Santurce Crabbers
Age: 18B/T: R/R
Born: Covelo, CA
Position(s): P (SP1)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:1,100,000

Michael "M+M" Marshall was suprised so many teams passed him up. So was I! He will be given the chance to prove the other 30 teams wrong in about 4 years.I think he will be solid Starting Pitcher but won't win many awards.Still a good late round pickup.I had him ranked #10 on my board.

#33

Fred Bowen
San Francisco
Kickapoos
Age: 18B/T: R/R
Born: Loganville, GA
Position(s): P (SuA)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:1,000,000

Like I said before. There are always plenty of very Good Bullpen pitchers. Still on the board  late in the 1st round. And Fred "Cross" Bowen has all the pitching projections to be a very good Setup or Closer.his 60 ish health rating may be a problem but a good gamble at the end of round 1.He was #9 on my draft board.

THE DRAFT REVIEW SEASON 17 PICKS 1-16

#1

Walt Henry
Hartford
Crushers
Age: 22B/T: R/R
Born: Dover, MA
Position(s): P (SP2)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:3,600,000

At Age 22 it will take max training and some nice bumps to reach his lofty projections. Even if he doesn't make it. Walt "Oh" Henry will be a very good starting pitcher. My scouts never saw this guy.

#2

Brandon Foxx
Wichita
Wind
Age: 18B/T: L/L
Born: Cathedral City, CA
Position(s): P (SP1)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:3,910,000

Brandon "Iron" Foxx has absolute killer kick-ass pitching projections. But his health rating is too low for my tastes. Time will tell if he's Iron or Pot-Metal?? I wasn't willing to chance it so I dropped him to the bottom 200 on my board.

#3

Albert Glynn
Charlotte
Sometimes
Age: 18B/T: S/L
Born: Columbia, MD
Position(s): P (SP1)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:6,303,000

Albert "In a Can" Glynn is also a very nice projected starting pitcher. Maybe thats why he held up the Sometimes for a extra 2,000,000. He will be worth the money in my opinion. He was #1 on my board

#4

Walter Parker
Montreal
Rois
Age: 19B/T: R/R
Born: Chickamauga, GA
Position(s): P (P)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:3,720,000

Another kick-ass projected starting pitcher with health concerns. Walter "Peach Pit" Parker will need some luck and low innings pitched to make projections. Not scouted by my guys

#5

Yannick Earley
Austin
City Limits
Age: 19B/T: L/L
Born: Brighton, MI
Position(s): RF
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:3,630,000

Yannick  Earley "Bird" will make the baseball fly far..far..away. But there will be no worm for this bird, due to a terrible health rating. I dropped him to the bottom of my draft list.

Wylies Take: my draft review is as follows: It doesn't matter who I draft or how good or bad they turn out to be. My team will continue to suck.

#6

Alex Johnson
Nashville
Posse
Age: 21B/T: L/L
Born: Lakewood, CO
Position(s): P (SP1)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:6,018,000

It took an extra 3 million to sign this holdout. If he makes projections , Alex "Hard" Johnson will be a Solid #1 or #2 starting pitcher. His age and health may keep him from hitting projections. But I was willing to take a chance. Thats why I had him ranked #3 on my board.

#7

Mark Carter
Minnesota
Misfits
Age: 18B/T: L/L
Born: Crete, IL
Position(s): RF/1B/LF/DH
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:3,300,000

Mark "Mister" Carter could be Outasight. Sometimes he will look like Boom Boom Washington. Other times he will resemble Arnold Horsehack. Welcome Back Mister Kot-taire!! Not scouted by my guys.

#8

Carlos Castilla
Jackson
Black Bears
Age: 18B/T: R/R
Born: Rawson, OH
Position(s): P (SP1)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:3,350,000

Carlos Castilla will not be able to pitch many complete games. But he has a good chance to reach his projections.look for him in the bigs in 3-4 years as a #5 or Long relief guy.I had him ranked #7 on my board.

#9

Hong-Chih Tamura
Pittsburgh
Pirates
Age: 19B/T: R/R
Born: Phoenix City, AL
Position(s): 2B
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:3,250,000

Tamura wil be a very good all around 3rd baseman. He could be a solid player for many years. Look for him in 2-3 years. He was #11 on my list.

ARDTHOMPS's TAKE: With the 9th pick in the draft, the Pittsburgh Pirates selected Hong-Chih Tamura . He projects to be a middle of the road player, doing a lot of things well, but nothing great. He adds even more depth to the second base spot for this organization, which wasn't really needed, but based on rankings, he will compete for playing time on this team.

#10

Raul Castro
Chicago
Bleacher Bums
Age: 21B/T: S/R
Born: Mt. Carmel, IL
Position(s): P (SP1)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:6,312,000

This player held out for the highest bonus in this years draft. And I don't see why. Perhaps he was represented by his Mother. They can be demanding on financial negotiations.Raul Castro projects to be a good Big league pitcher just nit a great one. Time will tell wheather he's worth the Cash. His low health numbers may cost Chicago. My scouts never saw this prospect.

#11

Josh Stuart
Boise
Brown Sox
Age: 18B/T: R/R
Born: Riverside, CA
Position(s): SS
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:5,127,000

Josh "Look what I can Do" Stuart's mom would be proud. This future GG shortstop can hit for power. A poor lefty hitting split is his only shortfall. Boise will be looking after him in the minors for about 4 years. He was my #2 ranked player.

#12

Philip Haney
Madison
Muskellunges
Age: 21B/T: R/R
Born: Gruver, TX
Position(s): P (SP1)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:2,970,000

With another Starting pitcher taken . This has to be one of the deepest drafts for SP'ers. Phillip "Mr" Haney will need just a couple more years to reach projections. With great Control and Splits he could be a future allstar. But with only one good pitch ,Haney may need a great pitch calling catcher to be super. I had him #6 on my board.

#13

Jerome Cochrane
Arizona
Cobras
Age: 20B/T: L/L
Born: Leoti, KS
Position(s): P (SP1)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:2,880,000

I had this starting pitcher ranked #5 on my draft board. Mainly for his great Control and Splits. I would have ranked him higher but his lack of a great pitch and low health concerned me.

SWISH's TAKE: With the 13th pick of the first round the Cobras selected Jerome Cochrane ,a lanky southpaw that we hope will be able to combat the LH power in the AL West in the future and strenghten the back of the rotation. ETA to Majors: late callup-Season 20.

#14

Haywood Marshall
Trenton
Toyotas
Age: 19B/T: R/R
Born: Petrolia, TX
Position(s): 2B
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

SIGNING BONUS:2,790,000

Haywood "We R" Marshall Will be a solid 2nd baseman who will hit around .290-.300 His range may hurt him a tad. May get packaged in a trade next year.He was never found by my pathetic scouts.

#15

Albert Sandoval
Chicago
Black Sox
Age: 22B/T: R/R
Born: Petersburg, MI
Position(s): P (SP3)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:2,690,000

I never saw this nice draftee. But I would have ranked him high due to his great pitching projections and health/make-up. Seeing how he's already 22 he may need only 1-2 years in the minors. Not scouted by my guys.

#16

Gerald O'Neil
Syracuse
Moose
Age: 21B/T: S/R
Born: Blakely, GA
Position(s): SS
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

BONUS:3,796,000

Another late signing Shortstop. Gerald O'Neil wont be a Gold Glover but he wont embarass you either. He will be a solid hitter .And with good speed he will swipe about 20-30 bases.look for this all-around solid player in 2-3 years. he was a "Wasn't scouted well enough" on my board.
