SWISH IS THIS YEARS OWNER OF THE YEAR

EVAN HOUSE OF DETENTION, A 5 STAR RESORT

We all know how hard it is to take an average team and turn them into one of the best. Swish has done it with the ARIZONA COBRAS and that is why he won this years DUROCHER AWARD. Swish Is also active in the league wheather it is some good advice on the Chat or a article on the Blog. While we don't hand out a Trophy for this award. This year we will be sending Swish and a Companion on a all expense paid trip to the Lovely Zagros Mountains on the Iraq-Iran Border. With opulent accomidations at the Evin Prison inside Beautiful Iran. This will be a trip of a lifetime........in prison that is.We stand and applaud with respect and admiration to Swish. This years Durocher Award Winner.

SEASON 18 DUROCHER AWARD NOMINEES

My friends this makes 4 seasons we have voted for the Owner of the year. And the participation has been solid with 2/3 of the league voting for the Durocher Award winner.Below are 4 worthy nominees and I hope we have 100% participation.Vote for your favorite to the left of this column and you have 7 days to vote. Thanks for another grand season in Wrigleyville.--MAD

SWISHNEV- This nomination is a no brainer..so to speak. Swish's Arizona Club is leading the A L and he also contributes to the blog occasionally.Swish took a struggling team over 5 seasons ago and has turned them into winners. Here is what a fellow owner had to say about Swish : "He has done a great job building the team back up in that tough AL West".

RBEDWELL- What can I say about our fellow owner Rbedwell. Let me start by saying that he has been a resource to most of us when we have a question about HBD. Thats why I've dubbed him the Professor...well theres that, and he's a teacher too. The Professors San Juan Santurce Crabbers are also the class of the N L and have represented the N L in the last 2 World Series, winning 1 . Here is what a nominating owner had to say: "best record in the league. Finished first again".

MADMULDOON- Well, I usually dont put my name in for the Durocher due to the fact that usually my team really sucks. They still suck but not really suck, so............I will bow to some owners that think I deserve consideration.Heres what a owner had to say: "I nominate Madmuldoon for not only fielding a quality team, but more importantly make the league a better league through all of his contributions. What Madmuldoon brings to this league is clearly more than any other owner does. I vote Madmuldoon"

AARONWAYNE- Lets see...... Aaronwayne took a struggling team 10 seasons ago and now they are going to claim their 6th consecutive division title. Even though he hasn't won the Series yet, his consitancy should be worth something. These Dogs can hunt and its just a matter of time before they win it all. One owner had this to say about Aaronwayne: "I'll go with Fargo/aaronwayne for The Durocher Award because he always kicks my ass."

Others recieving nominations: Sandberg10, Mark3313, Mdymond

THE WEEK IN WRIGLEYVILLE S-18 #7

TRADES

The LOUISVILLE HOWLERS traded Victor Lima to the MEMPHIS BLUES for Harry Bennett

Memphis picks up a M L innings eater. The Howlers get a prospect that may get a shot at the bigs.

The LOUISVILLE HOWLERS traded Christy Crawford to the FARGO PRAIRIE DOGS for Virgil Guerrero
The  P-Dogs get a DITR that has some defensive skills. The Howlers get a good defensive player in his prime.

M L INJURIES
Trent Kingston
This former AAA rookie of the year had a sore Hammy. He is back on the team and doing just fine for Colorado Springs. But theres a dark cloud forming over the Springs.

Davey Solano
It's been a whirlwind season for Davey "So-So" Solano. So he was on the AAA DL. So then after he recovered the P-Dogs called him up .So now he's back on the DL. So that 33 health rating makes him Iffy at best!

Virgil Siqueiros
Virgil "That was" Siqueiros will spend 2 months on the DL with elbow tendinitis. This Tabaky Farmer has been a solid bullpen guy and will be missed.

Joe Valdes
There's a bug going around in the Springs. Joe Valdes went on the 15-day DL with a bum Hammy. Maybe its the swine flu tearing up the Hammys.

Eric Durham
This Crusher suffered a dislocated shoulder. He will return in 2 weeks and should be put right back in.He's a very good bullpen guy.

Del Bonilla
Yep...theres pestilence in Colorado Springs. Del "bad to the" Bonilla has a stiff groin and will miss 2 weeks. Stiff hammys and groins are a-plenty in the Springs.

Terry Oliver
Terry "Cloth" Oliver is back on the DL for the first time in the Majors. He was a AAA DL Darling before signing a 3 year 14.4 million dollar free agent contract this year. He will be back with the Posse in 3 weeks after his bulging disc heals.

Alex O'Donnell
Alex O'Donnell doesn't like his demotion to AAA. It's the second time he has been on the DL since he was sent down. Sending a message to Wylie, me thinks!!

Diego Arredondo

Diego "DA" Arrendondo is going under the knife and will miss 3 months. The Moonbats will miss their chief Prosecutor in the pen.Sordie will need this guy back if he intends on going deep in the postseason.

Buster O'Connor
Buster "Cherry" O'Conner fits in with the Red Light Districts. They are a bunch of degenerates and have a infamous reputation. Buster Cherry will miss 2 weeks with a sprained elbow.

Placido Cruz
O K , someone quarantine the Colorado Springs Bandits. This time its a ankle sprain and the commish has forbid any trading with Colrado Springs Club. We don't want a World Wide Pandemic.

Jim Roundtree
The Bleacher Bums will lose Jim "Merry Go" Roundtree for 2 weeks with a forearm cramp.he is in the second year of a 4 year 25.2 million dollar free agent contract. This guy loves to run around the bases.

Steve Henderson
The Howlers R-5 pick-up has a straind MCL. He will miss a month and luckily didn't take a big hit on his projections.

Andres Ferrer
Oh lord!! The big one just hit Chicago. The tremors will be felt for awhile in the windy city. The Bleacher Bums lost Andres "Fault" Ferrer for the rest of the year with a stress fractured elbow.

The SAN FRANCISCO KICKAPOOS traded Omar Perez , Peter Hodges , Glen Swann to the SCOTTSDALE SHOCK SQUAD for Marty Allen and Chien-Ming Dong
The Kickapoos continue their wheeling and Dealing before the deadline. Mark shipped a player that he aquired from Minnesota and a player he aquired from Durham and a player he aquired from Tampa to the Shocksquad.
The Shocksquad sent the 2 time MVP Allen and a bullpen pitcher that I later claimed off the Wire. Nice!! Mark traded 3 trade pickups for one of the best hitters in the league.

The SAN FRANCISCO KICKAPOOS traded Julio Tavarez to the LOUISVILLE HOWLERS for Billy Tenbrink
The Kickapoos get another nice setup guy.Louisville gets....well.... not much. Taverez was a former 5th round pick.

M L INJURIES
Gene Weston
The Crabbers were glad this injury wasn't to serious.A strained shoulder kept this Player of the week out for 2 weeks. He is already back on the mound mowing them down.

Sandy Hiatt
When Sandy "In My Crack" Hiatt went down last season I wrote this ."nwsheehy007 took another gamble on a sickly player. And..well......2-1/2 months with elbow tendinitis He only has 3 more years at 6.3 million per, left on his contract"  He will miss 5 months with a labrum tear. Only 2 more years on his contract!!

J.B. Battle
J.B. "Final" Battle will miss a month with a Elbow strain. This is not what the Toyotas had in mind when they traded for this shutdown bullpen pitcher.

Mule Bates
Mule "Master" Bates missed 2 weeks with a strained shoulder.Gee.... I wonder how Master Bates got that Injury??? The Misfits may want to cancel his Hustlers subscription.

B.C. Olivares
B.C "Green" Olivares will miss several weeks with a strained groin. This oldtimer is in his 15th season and this is his first DL stay. Green is Good!!

Bryan Greisinger
Bryan "I'm Dying" Greisinger will miss 2 weeks with a back strain. This guy will be on the DL with regularity.

Timothy Person
Timothy "First" Person is ready to come off the DL. Timothy has a stiff groin and Timothy doesn't like this. Timothy wants to play baseball.Timothy is getting bored!

Willie Alonso
Willie "Or Won't He" Alonso is ready to come off the DL after his strained groin healed. Will he be back at roster expansions.Maybe...Maybe not.

THE WEEK IN WRIGLEYVILLE S-18 #5

TRADES
The SAN FRANCISCO KICKAPOOS traded Doc Hampton to the CINCINATTI RED LIGHT DISTRICTS for Jeffrey Blackley
Cincinatti Picked up "Call A" Doc Hampton fresh of his D L stay. San Francisco gets a Nice defensive prospect that will hit against lefties.Mark loves them Shortstops!

The AUSTIN CITY LIMITS traded Yannick Earley to the LOUISVILLE HOWLERS for Jumbo MacFarlane
Louisville picks up Yannick Earley "Exit" who looks like a great slugging RF'er. But then you see his Health projection and your stomach turns.Austin gets Jumbo "Big Mac" MacFarlane ,Pink Slime and all. He just came off the DL which caused his stock to fall.

The SAN DIEGO SALMON BELLIES traded Miguel Duran and Hi Scelfo to the LOUISVILLE HOWLERS for Tomas Cruz and Livan Bonilla and 1,900,000
The Howlers continue the Fire sale by shipping off a couple more pitchers and a couple million to San Diego. This  bought the Howlers 2 nice prospects.Works for both!

The COLORADO SPRINGS BANDITS traded Quilvio Belliard to the FARGO PRAIRIE DOGS for Kelvin George
The Bandits get a nice hitting prospect that was languishing in the Prairie Dogs AAA squad. The Dogs get a better defensive prospect.

The SAN FRANCISCO KICKAPOOS traded Chad Jones and Chris Everett to the MINNESOTA MISFITS for Omar Perez
Perhaps the Misfits are throwing in the Towel. Minnesota ships one of their Free Agent aquisition to the Kickapoos for 2 prospects.

M L INJURIES
Buddy McConnell
Buddy "Epsom Salt" McConnell will be soaking his Elbow for most of the year.Hatton will be soaking his head for picking him in the R-5. He did eat some innings while the Sometimes continue rebuilding. So dry your hair Hatton, things will get better.

Tony Matos
Tony "Nothing" Matos has been suprisingly injury free for 3 seasons and Mdymond took a second chance on him. Now he goes out for two weeks with a partial torn something in his forearm.Mdymond was asked about the injury and he replied. "Fuuuugettaboutit, It was nuttunn."

Endy Glynn
Hshack re-signed Endy "of the Road" Glynn for 1 year 1.4 million. Now he will undergo Elbow surgery and miss the rest of the year. Its the end of the road for Endy!

Geronimo Cruz
Geronimo "Cannonball" Cruz will miss 6 months with Elbow Surgery. Daddio must be shellshocked after trading for this player. If its any consolation to Daddio, the player he traded for the Cannonball ( Claude Coleman) hasn't panned out for the Misfits .
