THE WEEK IN WRIGLEYVILLE SEASON 24 #4

TRADES

The ARIZONA COBRAS traded  Larry Walker and 2,800,000 to the SCOTTSDALE SCHIZOIDS for Matt Black and Vicente Fuentes
Pretty much everyone knows that I'm in the market for good position players. With a good pitching staff , the only thing holding my team back is a run deficent offense. The Cobras are having a sinking ship sale and sent me a offer. Walker for a recently demoted pitcher and a young defensive catcher. It was a no-brainer to pick up a good contact and power switch hitter. And the Cobras got rid of a contract and picked up a good pitcher that never fit in on my team.

The MADISON MUSKELLUNGES traded Takashi Lui to the SCOTTSDALE SCHIZOIDS for Felipe Flores and Norm Ratliff
I got tired of Flippin Felipe Flores and his antics. He was a distraction in the clubhouse and his late night forays are infamous. So i sent out a chat ad that he was on his way out and Madison sent me ths best offer. Truth be told I would have traded him for a blowjob from a 5 dollar hooker, with braces. He offered a young 2B/CF'er that will be in AAA working on his glove work. I also had to throw in a young closer type in Ratliff , but I really wanted to move Flores.

The HELENA BARKING MOONBATS traded Miguel Rosario to the CHARLOTTE SOMETIMES for Ken Bell and 100k
Looks like Sordie needed some bullpen help and he found a good pitcher who was stuck in the Charlotte farm system. The kid deserves a shot and Helena will give him that. Charlotte picked up a young hitter with power that may play DH/1B.

The ARIZONA COBRAS traded Phillip Rhodes and 3,500,000 to the SALT LAKE CITY UTES for Wilbur Watson
This trade is injury driven. When Hoopcoach lost Tito Cannon for the season he was forced to shop for a replacement. And while Rhodes is not as good as Cannon Fodder, he can hold his own. Arizona on the other hand acquired Rhodes in a earlier trade and parlayed him into a nice pitching prospect. He also got rid of some salary and that is always a good thing for a team re-tooling for next year.

M L INJURIES

 Hipolito Maduro
Hipolito "The Mad Hippo" Maduro will be out 2 weeks with a strained hammy. Ressda is Hippen Mad.

 Gerardo Martinez
Gerardo "GM" Martinez is out 2 months with a bulging disk. Theres no way to bail out this GM.

Art Desmond
Jmas will be without the services of Art "Naught Thow Good" Desmond for a couple weeks. The Stars may be thow fortunate for Art thow shall be reborn. Amen

Tito Cannon
Tito Cannon "Fodder" will miss the rest of the year with a herniated disk. This really Blows for Hoopcoach.........with braces.

Felipe Baez
That wailing you hear in the beehive state is the Moaning of Hoopcoach. Another player bites the dust for the rest of the year and that earlier blow job still hurts. This time it' s Felipe "Groan" Baez. He suffered a labrum tear and could miss the start of next year as well. Bob Dylan showed up and started playing a duet with Groan Baez....." The season my friend is Blowing in the Wind. The Utes season is Blowing in Wind"

THE WEEK IN WRIGLEYVILLE SEASON 24 #3

TRADES

The HELENA BARKING MOONBATS traded Thom Wright and Jesus Canseco to the ARIZONA COBRAS for Benji Martin and 2.3 million.
Swish is waving the white flag on this season. He said. " ship be sinkin'. send me offers for anyone and everyone".  So Sordie was the first to pick the Bones of the season 24 Cobras. He grabbed all-star Martin, with this years salary paid. Swish received  a 20 year old slugger who hit 46 homers in LowA last year. He is a lefty so he may play in RF when he hits the bigs. Helena also sent Swish a old pitcher to fill the hole left by Martin.

The ARIZONA COBRAS traded Placido Telemaco and 5 million to the NEW BRITAIN BRUINS for Andrew Stripling , Troy McIntyre and Phillip Rhodes
The Firesale in Arizona continues with 20 million dollar man Telemaco getting shipped off to New Britain. Telemaco won his second Cy-Young last year at age 36. And he will be getting 20 million till he's 40. A great addition to any rotation and this makes the Bruins a World Series contender. Swish picked up Dodgers first round pick last year ( McIntyre), a DITR catcher and the Worland Wonder. While none of the players are in the same zip code as Telemaco. This was about dumping a big contract and getting the best offer.

M L INJURIES

Mo Coleman
Mo "Gadishu" Coleman will miss 2 months with a fractured clavicle. The Tabaky Farmers will have to find Somali else to play in right field. Super six-one going down!!

Yank Hill
Must be my lucky day. One of my favorite nicknamed players, Yank "me don't thank me" Hill is on the DL. Lucky for Jeff he will be out only 2 weeks. Word has it, he tore a miscus at a Ted Nugent concert last week.

Danny Barker
GRRR..... Danny "No Bite" Barker is back on the DL. He will miss 2 weeks with a dislocated shoulder. Ihateunc is growling!!!

Jason Ross
Jason "Glengary Glen" Ross will miss 2 weeks with a broken wrist. What???? A broken wrist in real life would end a players season. What if Sports may be trying to sell us a bridge in Madison?

Del Martin
Del "Rio" Martin will be out 2 weeks with a strained shoulder. PB could be heard in the training room sayin "Cry me a River Martin. Now get the hell out you cry baby"

Emmanuel Soto
Emmanuel  "De" Soto used to be a De L Darling but has been healthy the last 7 year. Now this Prairie Dog All-star will be out 2 weeks with a stiff hammy. This is all Aaronwayne de-needs de-now.

David Villalona
Austin was building for the future and David "Bob" Villalona was part of the plan. But he had a falling out with Wylie and was waived. Richmond picked him off the wire and..... wallah!!! He will be out 2 weeks with a sore elbow. "Bob" Villalona needs to show some improvment if he plans on getting paid next year in Arb.

Luis Manto
Luis "Fast Track" Manto was signed this year in the IFA market ,appeared in 4 games at AA, then was promoted to the Bigs. Now after 9 inning he goes on the 15 day DL with a strained back. A Back Track of the Fast Track....maybe??

Albie Estrada
"Well"  Albie Estrada will miss 3 weeks with a dislocated shoulder.  Must have hurt it in the annual Buffalo Chip Chucking Contest. Well I'll be, have you ever seen such a thing?

Carlos Wilfredo
Carlos "Fettucine" Wilfredo is out 3 weeks with elbow inflammation. Could this promising Augusta pitcher be a soft noodle? I don't think so, just a brief Pauseta in his career.

Madison
40-16
daddiothree
Billy Ensberg is leading the way for a potent MAD offense averaging 5.7 rpg.

2
Jackson
34-22
Olemiss33
For a team that has had so much loss, ownership has kept the team on track and focused for a playoff run.

3
Salt Lake
36-20
Hoopcoach07
Pitching staff has been solid only allowing 4.35 rpg. Jeffry Boyd (8-2) with CY consideration in the NL.

4
Austin
34-22
Wylie715
Another team with solid pitching. The killer three of Madson, Gardel, and Ruffin leading a potent offense (5.3 rpg).

5
Salem
35-21
Mdymond
Salem continues to be the gold standard for offense. With 378 runs scored, and a solid running game this team is dangerous.

6
Helena
33-23
Sordie
Horrible pitching (5.44 team era), being made up for by an offense that rivals their rivals in Salem. Team holds a .917 ops.

7
Pittsburgh
32-24
Ardthomp
Pirates get  respect they deserve. A solid 306 rs versus 279 ra. Only problem is 8-9 in 1 run games. 10 blown saves.

8
New Britain
32-24
Dodgersgale
Favorite in the AL South is finally playing like it. Trade that brought more LHH into the lineup seems to have re-energized.

9
Minnesota
32-24
Pbsilver11
Just like last year, watched early lead evaporate. Pitching has not been strong (4.75 team era, 290 ra)

10
Scottsdale
31-25
Madmuldoon
Schizo’s taking shape. Pitching has been effective, only five blow saves and 1.37 whip. Okajima (.299/.373/.640) on a tear.

11
Arizona
31-25
Swishnev23
Was on a roll until recent series with NB. Still one team that will be standing tall in the postseason.

12
Charlotte
32-24
Hatton98
Starting pitching is punting while bullpen picks up the slack. Only 4 blown saves and a team 1.26 whip, and .308 oOBP.

13
Richmond
31-25
Ihateunc
Getting great production out of offense, especially Amaral, Harris, and Nieves. Team doesn’t run so good 18 CS.

14
Chi Black Sox
31-25
Hacker7
Rich Piper is half god- half man. .341/.375/.793 with 33 HR and 75 rbi in first 56 games. WOW

15
Burlington
31-25
Ehull11
The mighty have fallen on hard times. Still in first place, but Cincy and ‘Cuse are coming on strong.

16
Cincinnati
26-17
Jeff2106
With the addition of BING and Jorge Fernandez, this team has a real chance to knock the Coats off the hanger.

17
Jacksonville
29-27
Wishlist3677
Looks like it’s up to Benito Torres and Wayne Howard to lead the “jugger-nots”. Playoffs still a possibility…maybe.

18
Santa Fe
29-27
Tchagnon
Worst pitching staff in the league makes it hard to compete. The air is very thin.

19
Syracuse
27-29
Rugby1
It’s easy to see this team is better than their losing record. Gomez and Shannon both making case for NL MVP.

20
Fargo
27-29
Aaronwayne
At some point, the P-Dogs will make a big run. Bruins and Misfits looking over their shoulders constantly.

21
Tampa Bay
26-30
Jmas10
Decent pitching (only 272 runs allowed, below league avg), but needs help on offense. 4.5 RPG doesn’t get it done.

22
Colorado Springs
26-30
Ressda
Another offensively challenged team. Solid pitching is keeping the team out of the basement.

23
Buffalo
24-32
Jaredpaventi
Offense is the name of the game for the Chips. But when the Chips are down…well, it just smells bad.

24
Milwaukee
25-31
Pat007ohmss
8 blown saves in 19 attempts spells trouble for a team that has a decent offense. 302 runs scored is above league avg.

25
Little Rock
24-32
Dmann2158
I think they need to have another drink…

26
Augusta
24-32

30

Sad to see the kick-some-poo’s doing so poorly. Hopefully they will get that first round pick they seem to be wanting.

31
Lousiville
15-41
Jmuhtoff
New tradition in the ‘Ville…players line up and beat them with a stick. Gotta make sure they live up to their redtails name.
