PLAYER SPOTLIGHT- CHE CHO

BY Jack Kass

Born: Okinawa, JP
Position(s): P (P)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

The great Che "Ahhh" Cho is this weeks player in the spotlight. He was bought in season 5, from the IFA market for 22.6 million. And that was nothing to sneeze at. He has won 2 World Series Rings and a Cy-Young , but what made him special was his fielding and hitting. Not often do you have a great starting pitcher who has 3 gold gloves and 2 Silver Slugger awards. You could say he was one of the best all-around pitchers in the National league. I imagine he would have a few more SS and GG if he wasn't dealt to the A L in season 21. Then again it was in the A L when he won his only Cy-Young, go figure.
His work on the mound was impressive. He has a career 245-122 with a WHIP of 1.29 and a ERA of 3.47. None of these are top-5 all-time numbers, but his 66 + plays and .243 OBP should be considered for the Hall of Fame vote.  Cho is still a free agent and if a team like Cheyenne or Chicago needs a pitcher. Well....... Cho could be blowing his nose in their bullpen
I for one, look forward to seeing Che "Ahhh" Cho in the Hall donning a San Juan Cap.

By MADMULDOON
Editor in Briefs

TRADES
The SALT LAKE CITY UTES traded Clint Kinney to the CHEYENNE BAGWELL BASHERS for Jerry Parkinson and 200,000.
The Utes get lefty for the bullpen, He may walk a few. Cheyenne gets a innings eater for the farm.

M L INJURIES
Odalis Suarez
Odalis "Raise your Right Hand and" Suarez will miss 1 month with a bone spur. When I asked why he was on the 60 day DL, dajak87 plead the 5th.

Harold Edwards
Harold "and Kumar" Edwards is out 2 months with a sprained shoulder. This will give him plenty of time to find a White Castle burger joint in Louisville.

Morgan Hebert
Morgan "Frank" Herbert strained his MCL and will be out 2 months. Tell me about the water on your home world Muad'Dib?

Al Belliard
Al "Stinker" Belliard is gonna miss 2 weeks with a sore man boob. 5 million a year with a 5 million dollar signing bonus and a ERA of 6.04 is why he smells.

Kevin Loretta
Kevin "Bacon" Loretta is out a month with a sore shoulder. He was sizzling hot last year and this year he has cooled . Yuck, cold bacon.

Neifi Ordaz
Neifi "N-O" Ordaz is out 2 weeks with a sore man tittie. N O is getting old and may ride the bench next year. N0000!!

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT-JUAN PARRA

By Dick B Dragon
staff writer

Juan Parra
San Juan
Santurce Crabbers
Age: 37B/T: L/L
Born: Laguna De Perlas, NI
Position(s): 1B
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

The great Juan Parra "Pliers" is this weeks spotlight after proud pappa Rbedwell touted."Juan Parra needs 30 more hits to become the all-time Wrigleyville leader."

Ralph signed Parra in the season 6 IFA Market with 15 million. He turned out to be the class of the group that included David PinedaFelix Gao and Rico Mateo . He spent 2-1/2 years in the San Juan farm system where he was the S-7 Low-A MVP. Then he was traded to San Francisco in season 8 for Hi Shea and Ryan Holt .At first look Ralph got the short end of this trade, but in the long run Ralph got Parra back in season 13.He traded R.J. Roque , Russell Baez and Glen Hughes to Tacoma to get Parra back. So he ended up with both Shea (Lifetime-147-108, 1.35 WHIP, 4.18 ERA) who was a solid mid reliever and Parra  (3,136 hits, 779 Homers, 2,052 RBI and .323 BA) for several years. You could say in the long run the trade worked out well for "The Professor of HBD". Watch and learn oh ye wee ones of HBD, Ralph will show the way.
Parra has won both Rookie Of the Year, MVP and a HRD during his brief stay in Tacoma. He went on to win 4 more MVP's ,HRD and 2 Rings with the Crabbers. I had to laugh at my comment in the the-week-in-wrigleyville-s-23-8 when Parra was put on the DL. Where I said "After 17 Major League Seasons, Juan Parra "Pliers" lands on the DL. He will miss the rest of the season and may Retire if not signed in next years free agent market. Will some one take a chance and throw some WD-40 on his  rustyhinges?"
He may be rusty but Ralph is in a re-build and has a 55 gallon barrel of WD-40 on hand, so Ralph took the chance. It's a good bet that Parra Pliers will hold the record for Hits.Homers and RBI's when his career ends. Goes without saying that he is a first ballot Hall of Famer. Like man who dances with wolves said "Good Trade"

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT-YORVIT DELGADO

 By I. B. Lyon
staff writer

Yorvit Delgado
Madison
Muskellunges
Age: 40B/T: R/R
Born: Boca Chica, DO
Position(s): P (ClA)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Proud daddy Daddio, touted on the chat this week "Career saves leader Yorvit Delgado pitched his 600 save yesturday. Future HOFer?"

Yep ...Yorvit "Senior" Delgado is a great cat. In his 20 year career he has garnered 5 Fireman of the Year awards,10 All-Star appearances and a World Series Ring. He was also voted 2nd team on the 20th anniversary team. These stats alone should make him a shoe in for the Hall.
Senior Delgado was a IFA in season 3. It was a sparse IFA market that year with Delgado ,Joseph Hyun and Alberto Ramirez as the best of the class. Delgado was picked up late in the season for 16 million and a S/T invite. He has been worth every penny and you can't say that about many a player.
His career looked in jeopardy when he had Elbow Surgery in Season 12 .  week-in-wrigleyville-s-12-3  . It makes me chuckle that I called him a "a Very Good Set-up Man". He was working as a set-up guy between Seasons 10 thru 14 . Imagine how many saves he would have if he closed all those years.
One question I have..should he go into the Hall as a Muskellunge or a Shock Squad?? If he gets a ring this year he's a HOF Muskie, no doubt. And the fact that the Shock Squad no longer exists should disqualify them. So as you can see I'm leaning towards the Madison side.
Congrats Yorvit "Senior" Delgado on a great career...Meow, Meow!!

THE WEEK IN WRIGLEYVILLE SEASON 25 #2

TRADES

The ARIZONA COBRAS traded Anibal Tavarez to the AUGUSTA NORTHMEN for Phillip Mayer
Swish picks up a very nice CF prospect for the future. And the Northmen get a very good bullpen arm that has been Arb'ed three times. He will be in the free agent market next year. In a nutshell, Augusta gave up a good young prospect  for the use of Tavarez this year. Avantrael is in a win now mode.

The TAMPA BAY RAYS traded Ryan Monroe and 1,900,000 to the MADISON MUSKELLUNGES for Buck Floyd and Andres Trevino
Madison gets a Power bat . Tampa picks up some youngsters and sheds a 3 year contract. This trade is good for both teams.

The TAMPA BAY RAYS traded Junior SanoSkip Knotts and Albert Espinoza to the AUGUSTA NORTHMEN for Chip BailesJohn Byrd and Francisco Campos
Tampa picked up 3 prospects to help with the re-build and jettisoned more contracts. Avantrael continues to improve his pitching staff. He grabbed a very tasty pitching prospect (Sano) and a couple overpriced players. At first glance I thought Svick was  shave your head, flash your junk, crooked face crazy for trading Sano.  But as I looked closer, he really wants out of some bad contracts. So no crazy here, maybe just a tad Mad!

M L INJURIES

Dan Walker
Dan "Sky" Walker has turned to the Dark Side. He will be out the rest of the year with Elbow Surgery. Yoda said it best: Twisted by the Dark Side, young Skywalker has become. The boy you trained, gone he is... Consumed by Darth Vader.

Glenn Rothschild
Glenn "Le-Feet" Rothschild will miss 2 weeks with a torn miniscus. It's gonna be a long season in Cheyenne.....drink up!

Harry Padilla
Harry "I" Padilla will miss 2 months with a broken hand. Do you have a App for that?

Clayton Bragg
Clayton "I don't Wanna" Bragg is gonna miss 2 months with a torn ligament in his shoulder. He don't wanna Smoke what Charleston is rolling.

Cesar Berroa
Cesar "Cuisine" Berroa will be out 2 months with a sore rotator cuff. Maybe for the best...Hitters feasted on his meatballs.

Reese McGee
Scottsdale player Reese "Fibber" McGee will miss 2 weeks with a tight and stiff Groin. To be truthful a stiff tight groin is a daily occurrence in Madmuldoons World.

Kiki Fernandez
Kiki " Kinky" Fernandez will miss 2 months with a Torn Groin. The Legion is getting their freak on!

Buddy Koloff
Buddy "The Gorilla " Koloff is out 2 months with a broken clavicle. The rash of injuries to the Chicago Legion, must be driving Dajack  ape shit!!

Tomas Nieves
Tomas Nieves "of Hearts" Is out for the rest of the year and most of next too. He suffered a ACL tear when he stole those tarts.

Santiago Rodriguez
Santiago Rodriguez is gone for the rest of the year with a torn hammy. No big deal for the Kickapoos.

Gerardo Martinez
Gerardo "GM" Martinez is back on the DL. This time it's a sore hip and he will miss 2 weeks. Looks like this Gold Glover's drive train is wearing out.

Eddie Locke
It's been a long time since we've seen Eddie 'Dread" Locke on the DL. Now with the P-Dogs, Dread Locke will miss 2 weeks due to a non-baseball injury. Word has it he was poisoned on a fishing trip to West Virginia. He ate some licorice tasting fish.

Joe Valdes
Another long time no see. DL darling, Joe "Momma" Valdes  returns with back spasms and will be out 2 weeks. Like I've said before, there isn't a part of Joe Momma that hasn't been injured. Makes you want to curl up in a ball and suck your thumb while being spanked by a 300 pound hooker named Gertrude. Oh Momma!!

Don Nelson
One of the greatest pitchers in Wrigleyville history lands on the DL. Don "Lord" Nelson will miss 2 months with a sore shoulder.Lord knows It would be nice if Nelson makes it back for a playoff run. That is up to the Blues making it to the post-season.

THE WEEK IN WRIGLEYVILLE SEASON 25 #1

TRADES

NO trades this week.

M L INJURIES

Clarence Aubrey
Clarence "Sale" Aubrey is gonna miss a couple weeks with a strained MCL. He's a bargain at 360k but he will get fat stacks of cash after his Arb years are over.

Alexi Hernandez
Augusta's defensive CF'er will only miss 2 weeks with a tight Quad. Luckily he didn't take a hit on his defensive numbers. He will continue to be a  defensive shinning star in the Northmen outfield.

Chris Scott
Welcome a future DL darling to Wrigleyville. Chris "Krinkled" Scott is on the DL with a strained oblique and will miss 2 weeks. With a mid 30's health rating its a miracle he hasn't been injured sooner. Merry Christmas.

Esmailyn Maduro
Esmailyn "E-Mail" Maduro will be out a month with a bulging disk in his neck. Not a good start for last years Black Sox back-up catcher, who is getting to start this year.Could be Spam!

Haywood Stanley
No reason why this guy should be pitching in the Bigs. Hello Stanley!!

Corey Quinn
Corey "Algon" Quinn will miss 2 months with a sore shoulder. This guy may never hit a home run but he is a warrior on the base path.

Virgil Ramirez
Virgil "Earp" Ramirez is going to miss 3 months with elbow tendinitis. I wrote in Season 23: "I called Virgil "Earp" Ramirez a bum last year. And he continues his Bumness with a 3 week stay on the DL. He dislocated a shoulder, and as soon as he locates it, he will be back on the mound for the Bleacher Bums. This is not O.K. Earp!"  Now he's the Prairie Dogs Bum. And will cost 10.7 million this year......Bummer!

Stan Knight
Stan "Wee" Knight is out 2 months with a bulging disk. This little guy is in the last year of his contract with the City Limits. His paycheck will be smaller next year.
