DRAFT REVIEW SEASON 10 19-36

Here is the second half of the draft. I finished this one first because most of the prospects are signed. The first 18 will be completed after some of the top 5 sign. This was a pretty good draft .strong on pitching but weak on health projections. Many of these kids will be on the DL before they reach the Majors. But there were some late round GEMS. Let me know if you like this new format with the Grades.

#19

Frank Takada
Syracuse
Moose
Age: 20B/T: R/R
Born: Temecula, CA
Position(s): 2B/3B/OF/DH
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 2,320,000

The Moose picked up this JC 2nd baseman and sent him to rookie ball. Frank "and Beans"Takada looks good with Killer range and decent speed, so CF may be in store for him. his projected RH split is low so he may not hit above .270. but he will get a shot at the bigs .  Grade: B-
#20

Scot Beltre
San Francisco
Kickapoos
Age: 18B/T: R/R
Born: Kansas City, KS
Position(s): P (SP3)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 2,220,000

The Kickapoos grabbed this mid-relief ptcher out of high school. Scot "who stole my other T"Beltre has a good RH split and three good pitches ,which is hard to find. His control is on the borderline and so he'll walk several players per outing. He's gonna make a solid bullpen pitcher. Grade: B
#21

Torey Acosta
Portland
Pandemonium
Age: 18B/T: L/L
Born: Crockett, TX
Position(s): RF/1B/LF/DH
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 2,070,000

The Pandemonium bagged this nice outfield prospect from HS. Tony "Pacific" Acosta can hit with speed ,agreat combination. And he will field his positon too. My concern, and its probably why he slipped so low, was his low health number (53). That means he will have to be handled with care. And still he may spend alot of time on the DL. Grade: C+

#22

Travis Gutierrez
Jacksonville
Manatees
Age: 19B/T: R/R
Born: Spring Hill, KS
Position(s): P (SP1)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 2,040,000

The Manatees landed this JC player with the 22nd pick. Travis Gutierrez has good splits and two good pitches. And will do well in the NL with o.k. hitting and bunting skills. His low control is  below my personal 50 minimum ,and low health ratings make this manatee a gamble. Grade: C

#23

Freddie Long
Tacoma
Toyotas
Age: 18B/T: L/L
Born: Mart, TX
Position(s): P (SP2)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 1,940,000

The Toyotas used thier rule-D pick to grab this high school hurler. Freddie "got fingered" Long has great control, good splits with two good pitches . His low durability is a concern with his low health rating. Still he will make a big league squad. Grade: B-

#24

Alfredo Acosta
Nashville
Posse
Age: 18B/T: S/L
Born: Bluffton, IN
Position(s): CF
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 1,850,000

This High School prospect will be riding with the Posse soon. Alfredo "The Barbery" Acosta Has good range and gloves skills to play CF. But his Poor arm strength and accuracy will make him a liabilty. He also can't play in the infield, because he's a lefty .So LF/1B will be his home. His low health projection will make it hard to get in the Bigs. But all is not lost, He can hit for average and has good speed. Grade: C

#25

#26

Don Hyzdu
St. Louis
SilverHawks
Age: 18B/T: R/R
Born: Salinas, CA
Position(s): 2B
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 1,660,000

The Silverhawks picked up this High school infielder with thier D Pick. Don Hyzdu is a Slugger with great Power and good hitting skills. His low fielding Projections will make him a LF/1B. And again the low heath projection will make him a DL Darling. Grade: C+

#27

Salmonbellies
Age: 20B/T: L/L
Born: Mount Vernon, TX
Position(s): P (SP4)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 1,570,000

The Salmonbellies aquired this pick from the Silverhawks and selected this JC pitcher. Rex "The Silver Hammer" Maxwell is going to be a great Mid-relief pitcher. He has great control, good splits and a killer 100 sinker pitch. He also has three other good pitches which makes him a rare 4 pitch pitcher!! With good health and already 20 years old he will be pounding the big league strike zone soon. I like this pick alot Grade: A

#28

Chad Krause
San Juan
Santurce Crabbers
Age: 18B/T: R/R
Born: Chicago, IL
Position(s): P (SP1)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 1,470,000

The Crabbers netted this high schooler with the 28th pick. Chad "Sour" Krause has good splits, two great pitches and two other good ones. Again we have a four pitch pitcher, and ralph has a reputation for picking up late round Gems. His stamina is a little low for a starting Pitcher. But with a projected 30 durability, he could be a #5 SP or a Long A relief. Grade:A

#29

Tino Gong
Hartford
Crushers
Age: 20B/T: L/L
Born: Woodward, OK
Position(s): P (SP3)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 1,315,000

The Crushers picked this JC prospect with the 29th pick. Tino "its Long" Gong has great control ,good splits and three good pitches. And again the low stamina coupled with good durability will make him  #5SP or Long A pitcher. ARomano will have to monitor his pitch count because of low health projections. Grade: B

#30

#31

Napoleon Wall

Stars
Age: 19B/T: S/R

View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Born: Ottawa, ON
Position(s): SS
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 1,100,000

The Aztecs added this College infielder with the 32nd pick. Mark "Co" Nen is a great defensive player with stamina and healthy as an ox. He has good speed and baserunning skills but he can't hit a lick. With low splits and no power at all. He will be a defensive specialist. Perhaps he will bunt everytime?? Grade: C+

#33

Thom Wright
Tucson
Ectoplasm
Age: 21B/T: R/R
Born: Glenwood Springs, CO
Position(s): P (ClA)
View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Signing Bonus: 1,000,000

The Ecto's went for the first Closer in the late rounds. Thom "Do" Wright has great control ,good splits and great velocity. Add one great pitch and two good ones and you have a decent M L Pitcher. His low stamina will make him a Setup guy or a Closer. Grade: B

#34

Otis Mateo

View Hardball Dynasty Profile

Seattle aquired this pick from Tampa Bay and selected this College Catcher. Hiram "Rock you like a Hurricane" Sweeney  is below average defensivly, but the kid can hit. With great Eye ,good splits and contact he will hit .300 in the Bigs. Grade: C+

#36

Kirk Tomko

With the final pick in the first round the Kickapoo selected this High School Pitching prospect. Kirk "Beam me Up" Tomko will make a fine closer. He has great Control, Good splits, Great velocity and two very good pitches. Look for this cat in Bigs in a few seasons, But he probably will be in someone elses uniform. LOL Grade: B
