This guy is already on the DL. Bad luck seeing how at age 22 he will have a hard time reaching his lofty projections. If he does get close to them. He will be a very good CF'er that can hit in the #3 or #4 hole. Hope he makes it!
Fred Downs hasn't signed
Pedro "I B" Owen can now pay his bills after getting a nice signing bonus. when this kid makes his projection he will be a good 2nd baseman. He has speed and can hit with power .
Les "is More" Castillo is a rangy LF'er who can hit for a high average. With great baserunning skills he will be solid on the basepads. His speed will limit him tho.
Louis "Snow" White could become a solid SS with speed. He may also hit at .300 or above. But with his low health rating he may turn into a Pumpkin. After he held me up for extra 1,300,000 to sign. I almost passed on him and took a D pick next season. But hey I like to gamble.
JJ "Good Times" Lansing also held out for more cash. And Catching ain't easy!! But for this kid it will be easy. He can do it all, Defensivly and Offensivly . Like most catchers ,his lack of speed will hurt him on the bases. Nice pickup
Alan Hafner Hasn't signed
Mdymonds take: Good 2b. Very good hitter but no power.Has refused my first offer.
Geoffry "No Rush" Sierra is a cat that can hit for power and defend. He will kill lefties with his contact and LH splits. But don't ask him to beat out a bunt hit with a projected speed rating at 1.
Clint "Dirty Dorf" Conway lacks some range to play 2nd base. He can hit for average and has great health and make-up. That may help him get close to his projections.
Phillip "The Screw" Pryce will Rob hitters playing in CF. With super Range ,Glove and Speed there will be alot of Gold Gloves in his future. His low heath may keep him from reaching his projections.
Randy "Mister" Rodgers is only the second pitcher selected so far. Wheres the Pitchers at?? This kid could be a future FOY winner. With his great Control and Sinker.
Swishnev's take: With the 11th pick in the 1st round the Arizona Cobras selected Randy Rogers a left-handed reliever out of Merced High School in Merced,California. Rogers projects to be a very good reliever in the future as he has good control for a schoolboy pitcher with the ability to throw three pitches for strikes while keeping the ball on the ground. As he matures the Cobras hope that he'll have the ability to strike out hitters consistently,as well. Rogers started his professional career at the High-A level and outside of two rough outings he's pitched well in striking out 8 in 8.1 ip and going 4-6 in save opportunities. He's projected to make the ML roster in Season 18.
SIGNING BONUS: 2,970,000
Pete "Shiny" Penny will hit for average with some power. With lower than average Range and Glove for a SS. He may be best at 3rd base. His low health rating may Tarnish his Career.
Jacob "Corn" Clayton will be a solid Starting Pitcher in the Majors. This Forkball pitcher has great Control with Velocity. Add a low flyball ratio and you will not see many Cans of Corn.
Pbsilvers take: Picking 13th and not having another pick till the 3rd round, I did not have high hopes for this draft. Especially after looking at what looked like a very weak draft pool!I went aggressive, hoping I could pick up a player others passed on. I was rewarded this time with Jacob Clayton who actually signed after a very brief period without holding me up for more money!
Adam "Double Sawbuck " Hamilton has great Control and an above average fastball and curveball. His velocity may hurt him.
This Catcher will hit above .300 with about 20 homers. He is a little below average defensivley. But he can always be a DH
Chuck "Red" Robinson will make a good Long A relief pitcher. With a good Sinker and a low flyball ratio . He should get alot of Double plays.
