Here is a nostalgic look back at Season two's IFA's. This is the top 12 and there were some good and some not!! now that we have looked at S-1 and S-2's Amatuer and Ifa's . I will work on S-3 . If you have a S-1 or S-2 overachiever that i missed send me a sitemail and i will post them on the Blog!! Enjoy Gentlemen
Nigel Hasegawa signed with the Las Vegas Westward Ho's for a Season 2 high of 22 Million. He spent 2 years in the Minors and was promoted in S-4. He may have been Promoted too early but at least he is still improving. So far he has hit 171 ML homers, but he's struck out way to many times(658). With the price that was paid he could be considered a bust ,But there still is time to make me a Liar. He was traded this year to the Toledo Christian Beavers and is in the last year of Arb. He may opt for Free Agency next season?
This SS signed with the San Francisco Wee Wee Kickapoos for 19.3 Mil. This is one of my favorite players in Wrigleyville. He can do it all and he will be immortalized in the Hall of Fame. Since his call up in season 5 Ignacio(Caliente) Sosa has played in every Allstar game and won the Allstar MVP last season. He also has a League MVP(S-7) , 2 GG's(S-6,S-8) and 1 SS (S-7) award. Sosa is definatly one of the best 3rd basemen in the league.
Fausto Fernandez signed with th Los Angeles Patriotes for a 14.5 million bonus. Fausto spent 5 1/2 years in the Minors where he played in 1 All-Star team (S-3)and won FOY (S-3). He was traded to San Francisco in S-6 and has been a solid setup guy with an ERA of 3.39.
Tony was signed by the Florida Legends for a 10.6 mil bonus. he was signed at the end of S-2 so really his rookie year was S-3.This guy did play in two All-Star games(S-3,S-4) in the minors and also won a SS Award(S-4). He was traded to the Tuscon ticks at the begining of S-3. Cabrera spent 3 seasons in the minors until in S-6 ,when he was mistakenly left of the 40 man. Tony was scooped up by Memphis in the R-5 draft. After memphis aquired Tony they put him to work in Majors. He has been an O.K. hitter but he has sucked defensivly. Commiting 113 Errors at SS in 3 seasons.
This catcher signed by the Fresno Flying Circus for a bonus of 10.3 Mil. Tuscon brought this kid along slowly and after five years in the minors. He was called up to the Bigs. He is a solid everyday catcher that is having his best year yet, offensivly. So far Valdez is hitting .318 with 11 homers.Rafael (oil Spill) Valdez may turn into one of the best hitting Catchers in Wrigleyville.
Juan ( LOVE) Durazo was also signed by the Fresno Flying Circus for 10.3 Mil. Now called the Tucson Ectoplasm , They have brought this Pitcher along slowly. Juan has spent his entire career in the minors ,8 seasons. He could be considered one of the Minor league players of the decade. Durazo has won 3 Cy-Youngs (HiA,AA,AAA), 2 ROY's (HiA, AA), 4 All-Star games(LowA,HiA,AA,AAA) and a GG (AA) to boot. Hey Tuscon Give the kid a shot!!!
Erubiel Espinosa signed with the Atlanta Bravos for a 9.2 mil bonus. This Cat spent 3+ years in the Minors and was called up in S-5 during Roster Expansions. He has'nt done much yet except playing in an All-Star game in his Rookie season. This season he was traded to the Santurce Crabbers .Maybe it will jump start his career.
Another Catcher signed with the WEE WEE Kicapoos for a bonus of 8.7 mil. David Vazquez spent 3+ years in the San Francisco Farm system. He was called up during Expansions in S-5. While in the minors he played in 2 All-Star games (LowA , AAA) and won a SS in his rookie year.Vazquez has two WS rings as a backup and was the starting catcher last season. This season he is off to a great start batting . 322 with 12 homers . We may have a future HOF Catcher here.
Willie (Market) Mercado signed with the Washington D C Warmongers for a bonus of 8.5 mil . Poor Willie was called up in his second year. Way to soon. Luckily he has'nt suffered to much because of it. Since Ralph took the reigns of this franchise he has brought Mercado along nicely . Willie is finally coming into his own. He played in last years All-Star game and won a SS award. This season he is off to another good start hitting .303 with 24 Homers. He also just signed a 5 year 38.8 mil contract. Ralph showed him the MONEY!!!
This starting Pitcher was signed by the Fargo Fighting Ilini for 8.5 Million. Eli spent 5 years in the minors .After being traded to the Moose in S-5. He played in 2 All-Star Games(AA,AAA). Since his callup in the S-6 roster Expansion, Fernandez has been a solid Rotation Pitcher . He won a World series ring with the Moose in S-8 and may be looking to get paid in next seasons Arbitrations.
The Florida Legends signed ths Pitcher for a 7.9 mil bonus. Castillo has been a YO-YO in his career. Promote then Demote then Promote more times then is healthy. He is just a low level emergency mop up guy .Nothing more!!
The Milwaukee Sturgeons Signed this relief pitcher for 7.8 mil. After Spending all that cash the sturgeons waived him, Why??? He was picked up by the Fightin Bisons and played in two All-Star games(AA,AA). He had spent his entire career in the minors (again why??) . When the Prarie Dogs took over this year, they waived him (why??) .And now he is finally playing in the bigs with the Christisn Beavers with an ERA of 3.50 and a WHIP of 1.19. Maybe he will make them Sorry!!
